Delivering a Seamless Hiring Experience

With vast industry knowledge, Armbruster noticed in the field of automation selection and screening that the solutions available weren’t user-friendly and required candidates to jump through too many hoops before qualifying for a job.

Talkpush works with companies who hire a few thousand people a year, focusing on automating recruitment conversations. Candidates connect to recruiters through chatbots, using a conversational interface that allows recruiters to save time by eliminating those who aren’t a good fit.

How Technology Helps Find Better Talent

Hiring has changed quite a bit. To illustrate how, Armbruster suggests that when hiring someone, you get two options:

  • See someone’s resume
  • Talk to them for 30 seconds

Most managers prefer option two, because it gives you a chance to get to know the person and understand what motivates them. One benefit of hiring technology is it allows organizations to filter applications so hiring managers can talk with the people that most closely align to their objectives. Artificial intelligence helps this process by minimizing repetitive recruiting tasks, and automating workflows to more effectively engage, screen, and assess applicants—without hiring an army of recruiters.

Organizations that implement artificial intelligence can bring the best candidates to recruiters and hiring managers regardless of their work history, education and demographics—something that helps ameliorate hiring bias, one of the biggest challenges in recruiting today. As every country has a different culture and standards, Armbruster shares why he believes artificial intelligence can help close diversity gaps. Artificial intelligence assesses data points objectively—by focusing on qualifications of successful employees, instead of data correlated to demographic information such as race and gender.

What’s Max Armbruster’s Move?

Each episode ends with our guests offering their best advice in a segment we call “What’s Your Move?” In this episode, Armbruster shares his advice for the talent team looking to modernize their hiring process:

“Keep it light and keep it simple. See if you can generate a good amount of volume, and from there add technology to select and pre-screen people. If you want to stay competitive you need to rethink your recruitment process to capture a person’s voice instead of their resume.”
